Aliza Razell
'Aliza Razell experiments with different mediums to create her mesmerizing artworks. She combines two of her great passions; photography and watercolors. As she states, Aliza Razell has a burning need to create. The pictures are part of two of her latest series. Anesidora , involves the story of Pandora’s Box, inspired by the magic of confronting – and ultimately collaborating with – something entirely foreign and otherworldly. The second is inspired by the Finnish word ‘Ikävä’, meaning the feeling of missing someone or something.'

Together, Alice and I recreated the process that Razell uses for these images. With the slight adaptation of using emulsion rather than watercolour. Firstly, we found a photograph from a previous shoot that would compliment the shape of the paint we intended to use. Secondly, we painted explosive shapes using the emulsion paints that would look as if they were coming from the hands in the image. Using acetate to paint on, we would be able to use copier functions on the printer to create one final image once layering a printed version of the original image over the painted acetate. Personally, I think that the final result of these images were very successful. With a thicker texture created by the use of a different paint, the images stand out more. However, in the future I would try using a higher quality photograph and more detailed painting techniques to create a more realistic yet still other worldly final image.
